Overthinkers Can Write.

Hi, hope you are still here with me. I promised to post another tip if I got a few yesses and guess what, I did. So here is another free storytelling tip that can help you write freely and happily. Stop overthinking your idea.

Truth is, there is nothing new under the heavens, it may only be new to you. Ideas are dynamic, never stopping, always moving. So start with what you have, your creativity, intuition, or the Holy Spirit will guide you. I mentioned the Holy Spirit for a lot of reasons best none to me as a writer.

Overthinking sabotages your idea and sometimes, you may write off point. Don’t forget that we do not only see what a writer writes, we hear them as well. If you are a writer who overthinks their ideas, here are a few things I think you can do to help yourself.

1. Stop judging yourself too hard: Yes, I know you like excellence and all, but can you calm down and breathe? Yes breathe? Don’t beat yourself too hard on what is flowing and what is not flowing. You are your own first judge. If you judge yourself unruly and harshly, how do you want to appeal your case with your audience when criticism comes?

2. Find a good space to write: By good space, I do not necessarily mean aesthetics, I am talking about cleanliness. You will be clogged in a dirty environment and you will often experience fatigue or writer’s block. Sometimes, you don’t have a spiritual problem, you just have to clean up.

3. Embrace the discomfort that may come with your writing even before it starts. You are a writer, not a sales rep. Stop acting surprised when certain things happen to you, embrace them, correct them if you can and move on quickly.

4. Stop worrying too much about structure and grammar. You will be fine, just start.

5. Love your own creativity. You are your greatest cheerleader so please be fun while at it.

I hope I haven’t overshared. Thank you for coming to my pep talk today. I know you may not believe me, but I really love you for seeking this knowledge and reading till the end. Thank you! See you next time.
