Samuel had driven his brothers home when her message came in. It simply read “let’s see.” He wondered at her and what she was doing. She had left the best man at the wedding and danced with him all through. Alice, the girl he was merged with didn’t even feel an ounce of jealousy. The woman wasn’t single and she was simply one of those people who he could say was head over heels in love. He had replied the message with “I will be with you shortly.” And had added a smile emoji. Once he dropped his brothers home, he pulled his babariga and left the more comfortable one on. He thought he drove faster as he pulled over in front if the house he left minutes ago? She was outside the house waiting for him.
She looked smaller now, wearing a short Ankara dress. She didn’t let him come out, she rushed into the the car next to him and kissed him. It was Samuel’s first time and he couldn’t believe it. What had come over her?
“Please don’t stop me, please.” She deepened the kiss and he could not resist. He responded with as much passion.
“Tolu please, please, stop.” He managed to plead, but she was not having any of it. She continued. Her hands were all over him.”No, no, don’t say no Sam, don’t.” She told him in a hurry, her hands flying to his trousers.
“Tolu, stop!” He finally yelled. Don’t, don’t do this to me, don’t do this to us. I love you, yes I do, but I am not going to do this, not like this and not now.” He told her. His eyes looking watery like he was going to cry. Tolu was ashamed of herself. She rested her head in his chest, not wanting to look him in the eye.
“I am sorry, I…I…I don’t know what came over me. Soles and I had this too frequently, I guess I forgot how to express love properly.” She told him. Tears running down her cheeks. She opened the car door and ran into the house.
“Tolu, Tolu,” he called after her but she didn’t turn. She was obviously ashamed of what she had done. Samuel didn’t want to keep screaming because of the people around, so he called her line. She picked her call but said nothing. He only heard her sob.
“Tolu, if you can hear me, please, listen. I have known you for a few months, I have been your friend for only two weeks and you have been the most open human being I have ever met. See, I do not care about all you have done before, I am just sure that you were made for me. Sorry, if I said or did something that triggered what just happened between us, but hey, I want to save you for marriage, love you like I should, pray for you and with you without ever feeling guilty about us, hold you and respect you as I should, serve you with my body and every sweat that drops from it, feel you in me and me in you, until death do us part. What do you say about that, Tolu?”
“I…I…I…love you Samuel and I am sorry.” She finally told him and broke down in tears.
“Please don’t cry, please. Look at this point, you have to consider Christ. Only he can save us, only he can take us by the hand and see us through. He is not sitting up there as our judge, he sits there as our father and with an open arm, he is always ready to save us from ourselves, our appetites, our urge, our addictions, if we will surrender. Are you ready to surrender to him now? I mean Jesus.” He asked.
“Yes.” She answered still sobbing.”Just repeat after me, say Lord Jesus, here I am conceived and birthed in sin, I acknowledge and confess my sins to you. Have mercy and forgive me. Cancel my name from the book of death, write my name in the book of life, and help me to serve you and love you, now and forever more, amen.”
“…amen.” She finally said and then sighed.”That is it dear, you are saved, but we will see tomorrow, there are still a lot of things talk about and do so you can maintain what you have just gotten.” He told her and encouraged her more before leaving for his house. He prayed earnestly that her salvation shall be permanent and that the love of God shall fill her heart.
