The Virgin’s Slot Chapter 5

Inspired by the Holy Spirit

Her mother was now walking towards her. The woman stopped once she reached her side.

“Behave yourself!” She whispered and continued her walk into the house turning at intervals and smiling sheepishly.

Kpa! The car door sounded as Mary settled her angry self next to Wisdom. She hated the fact that she had obeyed her mother and had a change of cloth. She was wearing a red sleeveless body hug and black jeans. Her long hair was packed to the center of her head. He leaned over to peck her, but she moved away with equal speed.

“Okay, sorry about last night.” He apologized casually without an iota of remorse in his voice.

“Okay,” she responded.

“And is that all you are going to say?” He asked her squeezing his forehead.

“What should I say? I am asking you, why do you want me to say? That I am sorry too. That guy should have never come an inch close to me at the Tolu’s birthday party. Well, Wisdom, I do not have control over the men that talk to me and tell me they like me, you obviously have a problem with that and a lot of other things.” She yanked to his face without fear. Mary saw him swallow his saliva hard. She knew she had hit something hard inside of him. It was going to get her into trouble later, but this morning she was angry and she was going to say all that she needed to say. He wouldn’t dare hurt her in front of her mother.

Wisdom opened his side of the car and walked to her side. He opened the door to her side of the car and dazed her a slap across her face.

“Are you mad? Who do you think you are talking to?” He asked her, shielding her away from her mother’s view.

“You slap me in front t of my mother’s house?” She asked him crying.

“And I will slap you again. Who rented the damn house you now call your mother’s house? Me! Who is responsible for your feeding and the things you wear? Me! Who-

“-Enough! It is okay.” Mary told him and gently pushed him away to come out of the car. She came out and strolled off without saying a word.

“What happened?” Her mother asked once she entered the house silent. Mary said nothing to the woman. She just walked past her into her room.

Her phone rang like it had been waiting for her return. She checked to see who it was. It was her new found friend, Andrew. She had saved it with Brother Andrew, funnily. She sighed and cleared her throat before picking it.

“Brother Andrew of the most High!” she managed to say out of a croaky voice.

“Jesus! You just brother zoned me!” His voice came up playfully.

“No now, that is what I saved your number as on my phone.”

“Young woman, delete it, delete it, now, how, now.” He jokingly told her in a funny accent.

“What if I say no?”

“Well then, I can make you change your mind over dinner.” He told her.

“Are you asking me out on a date?” She asked and laughed.

“Not yet, not yet, this is just me wanting to eat out, but I will and when I do, you will know.” He told her. “Okay, so by 6pm, I will come get you.” He told her.

“Won’t that be too early for dinner?” She asked.

“Not for man without a car.”

“What happened to the car from last night?” She asked.

“Not mine. It belongs to a friend and I have returned it to him.”
