She pushed past the old man that stood outside the house listening to herself and her mother. What could he do? He was just an old dumb man who said everything with his body. He had no voice, a mute mouse like her mother, his daughter would out it. Gbemi wondered if the woman was his daughter and her mother, she had no empathy for anything, except her business of selling alcohol behind the almost collapsing inheritance or so she thought until she caught her crying in her bar one day. Yet, Bimpe refused to admit she wain dire need of help.
Today, she had complained about Gbemi always proving smart and avoiding work. Everywhere stood still once she spoke, even the seventeen-year old could not believe her hears. Was it that easy just lie and find reasons to always beat up innocent her. She knew it was not about her, it was the woman, that woman, the one that came to hurl abuses at her mother and was now making her pay for it.
Gbemi was almost going to faint. She sat on the bare floor catching her breath. She needed to. Running farther wasn’t an option, she was tired, even her read after could attest to it.
“Gbemi! Gbemi!” Bimpe’s voice came thundering from behind her. She got up from where she sat, she wasn’t going to wait for death, she ran as fast as her legs could take her. There was no way the woman was running faster than her, no way! Her first steps were the best, they launched her into the very space she needed to run. Unfortunately, her best steps were going to be her last. A Toyota Camry was also taking its best ride as it drove right into Gbemi’s teenage body. She rolled over the car and landed behind it.
Bimpe could not believe her eyes, what had she done? No, she didn’t just kill her child, a car did. She told. herself and stoppe in shock. She hated the child because she came from the worst experience of her life.
Raped at fourteen, there was no way she was going to be nice to the little monster, but killing her wasn’t part of the deal. It was obvious, that her fate was sealed. Nothing good around her stayed long, she always killed them, just like Gbemi.
She turned and spoke no word as she walked past her old father who keeps gesturing for her to talk to him. She walked into the small house and went for the knives. Only the silence that came with death could give her peace, she thought and did what she thought was best. Her squeal couldn’t be heard by her father, he was not only dumb, but he was also deaf.
Her fate, just as Gbemis’ was sealed, but then she thought of the old man that sat outside the house and went sour, the appetite to die suddenly disappeared, unfortunatelyit was too late. Her fate was indeed sealed.
